Savings rate
The share of your income you save instead of spend, written as a percent.
Divide what you save each month by your pay. Some people use take-home pay and some use pay before taxes, so say which one you mean and stay consistent.
A common target is 20% of take-home pay for savings and extra debt payments, but any fixed amount you keep up is a good start.
Example
Saving $755 a month on $5,000 of gross pay is a savings rate of $755 ÷ $5,000 = 15.1%.
