Field of membership
The rules for who can join a particular credit union, such as where you live, work, worship or study.
Every credit union has a field of membership. Some serve one employer, some a whole county, and some let anyone in who first joins a partner group.
Family members of current members can often join too. Check the rules before you count on a credit union's loan rate.
