Unit price
The cost of a product per ounce, pound, count or other unit, so you can compare different package sizes fairly.
Many stores print the unit price on the shelf tag next to the total price. It shows which size or brand costs less for the same amount, which a bigger package does not always do.
Not every state requires stores to post unit prices. When there is no tag, divide the price by the size to work it out yourself.
Example
A 32-ounce bottle at $4.99 is $4.99 ÷ 32 = about 16 cents an ounce. A 14-ounce bottle at $3.19 is about 23 cents an ounce.
