Extra rewards a credit card pays when you open the account and spend a set amount within the first few months.
A sign-up bonus might require a few thousand dollars of spending in the first 3 months. It's a good deal only if your normal bills reach the target. Spending extra to hit it erases the gain.
Read the terms for the deadline, what counts as spending and any limits on who qualifies. Keep a copy of the offer in case the bonus doesn't arrive.
