Hospital financial assistance
A hospital program that lowers or erases medical bills for patients who qualify by income. Nonprofit hospitals must have one.
Nonprofit hospitals must publish a written financial assistance policy and application, and give you at least 240 days from the first bill after discharge to apply.
If you qualify, the hospital can't charge you more than it generally bills insured patients for the same care.
