Executor

The person named in a will to settle an estate: file the will, pay debts and taxes, and hand out property.

The probate court normally appoints the person named in your will. Pick someone organized and trustworthy, and name a backup in case your first choice can't serve. An executor pays debts from the estate, not from their own money.
