Chapter 13 bankruptcy

A type of bankruptcy where you repay some or all of your debts through a court-approved plan over 3 to 5 years.

You make one monthly payment to a trustee, who pays your creditors. You keep your property and can catch up on missed mortgage or car payments over the plan.

When the plan is finished, the court discharges most remaining debts covered by it.
